2021 STIMULUS PAYMENTS

January 5, 2021

New legislation has just been passed that includes another round of stimulus payments for qualifying individuals. We Florida Financial has processed all of the direct deposits that have been received from the IRS and U.S. Treasury regarding stimulus payments to date. Those members who received stimulus payments via automated deposit effective January 4, 2021 had access to the funds on January 1, 2021. If the payments were received for closed accounts or accounts with invalid account numbers, those stimulus payments will be returned to the U.S. Treasury. The IRS’s Get My Payment tool will then be updated to show the new direct deposit or mailed payment date. We anticipate the IRS to make this information available soon and will be continually updating the payment status. We will continue to provide more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, please check IRS.gov/coronavirus for more information.

COVID SCAMS AND FRAUD ALERT INFORMATION

BEWARE OF SCAMS DURING THESE TIMES. THE IRS, CDC OR WE FLORIDA FINANCIAL WILL NOT ASK THAT YOU PAY A FEE OR CONFIRM PERSONAL INFORMATION VIA TEXT, EMAIL OR PHONE CALL.

COVID-19 TESTING TEXT SCAM

Keep scammers at least six feet from your personal info! As you’d expect, there are scammers trying to make a buck off the #coronavirus scare. In one scam, you get a text telling you someone close to you has tested positive and giving you a link to click on for more information. Of course, that link gives the scammer access to your phone and your personal information. They are also asking for money for testing. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. If you get such a message, delete it, block the number and report it to local law enforcement. Be safe!
